About
Hi, I'm Emily!
I am a filmmaker and writer based in the Kansas City Metro area, currently working toward my Bachelor's degree at the University of Kansas. I am a Film and Media major, with minors in English and Journalism. From a young age, I was fascinated with stories and have made it my lifelong goal to contribute to our society through the power of entertaining and informing the public.
As a film student, I have no days off, and I wouldn’t want it any other way. Most weekends, I am on set for a student short film, working collaboratively with my peers. I have extensive experience as a Script Supervisor and Assistant Camera Operator. Off set, I am often glued to my computer, editing multiple projects inside Adobe Premiere and After Effects.
When I have time away from the film world, I am writing. I enjoy screenwriting the most, creating scenes on paper, and crafting characters that fit into my stories. I believe that my years of experience as an editor have helped me in the visualization of the scripts I write. Away from film, I enjoy writing short stories and journalistic pieces, which are often opinion-based.
In my free time, I prioritize spending time with my friends and family, the people who inspire me and lift me up. I am lucky to have such incredible people who surround me, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.
My Approach
Creation: Everything I do starts with a script, spreadsheet, or list, depending on the project.
Collaboration: Film, writing, and journalism are all collaborative, and I enjoy working with those who want to accomplish the same goals as me.
Polish: Detail is what separates my work from others, and none of my projects are completed without multiple drafts or cuts.
