About

Hi, I'm Emily!

I'm a filmmaker and storyteller based in the Kansas City metro area, currently finishing my B.F.A. in Film & Television Production at the University of Kansas. My work sits at the intersection of post-production craft and narrative development — I believe the edit room is where stories truly come alive.

Growing up, I was the kid who watched movies with a notebook, scribbling down why certain cuts felt right and others didn't. That curiosity led me to pursue both editing and screenwriting, discovering how deeply interconnected these disciplines are. A well-written script anticipates the edit; a great editor honors the writer's intent while finding surprises in the footage.

My experience as a script supervisor has given me a unique perspective on production. I've seen how small continuity details can make or break a scene in post, and that attention to detail carries through everything I do. Whether I'm crafting a rough cut at 2 AM or noting a coffee cup's position on take seventeen, precision matters.

When I'm not in the edit bay or on set keeping an eye on the script, you'll find me rewatching films I've already seen a dozen times (currently obsessed with anything by Greta Gerwig), writing in coffee shops, or attempting to keep my houseplants alive with varying success.

My Approach

Story First: Every technical decision serves the narrative. I don't cut for flash — I cut for feeling.

Collaborative Spirit: Film is inherently collective. I bring ideas to the table while remaining open to the vision of directors, producers, and fellow creatives.

Craft & Care: Whether it's a major studio production or a student short, the work deserves the same dedication to quality.
